Development: Building Connections

Construction in progress.

At Cornerstone Civil Engineering, we know there are many factors that determine a client’s choice of firm. We are experts in our field, which includes technical aspects of civil engineering, such as using the latest design software, understanding local codes, and thorough analysis of the associated risks. In addition to our experience in the technical parts of the position, what sets us apart is our ability to be personable, professional, and thoughtful in every step of the process.

These so-called “soft skills” make CCE a great fit for any size project. Creating infrastructure that cooperates with existing buildings and roads is a project that has many moving parts. Whether they are interested in creating a shopping plaza, a housing addition, or a business center, a land developer will need to work with public agencies and any private entities which would need to approve or be affected by the build. A civil engineer can serve as a representative of the developer and act as a liaison between the various parties to ensure that the ideal agreements are reached.

A land developer needs a civil engineer who is an expert in their field. They also need one who is:

1) Personable. At CCE, our primary focus is serving the client, regardless of the size and type of project. We do our best to ensure that our clients’ needs are understood and met. We facilitate excellent communication with the required entities, such as an AHJ, adjacent owners, or additional stakeholders, in order to make the development process go smoothly.

2) Professional. CCE practices with integrity. We know that every project is a costly endeavor to the developer. We will make our best effort to identify risks and utilize cost-effective solutions, while meeting the agreed upon schedule. As a liaison between the developer, stakeholders, and the public entities which create the laws by which a builder must abide, CCE will stay engaged, organized and earnest in accomplishing the project goals.

3) Thoughtful. Whether the project is creating a parking area out of an open lot, or converting under-utilized farmland into a business center, CCE keeps stewardship at the forefront of all our planning. Civil engineers are technically minded. However, we also put our hearts into each project. We strive to remember that at the end of the day and at the end of each project, the people behind the plans are what is most important. In our planning, we are thorough in analyzing who may be impacted by a project and alerting the developer of those impacts.

We know there are plenty of options when searching for a civil engineer for your project. Our clients know that with CCE, they’ll receive attention to detail, excellent customer service, and expertise to guide them through each step, big or small.
